A Stroll in Bohol

I wasn't able to document all the stuff we did in Bohol because I was a bit sick. Too pathetic! but will try to put all on this blog.

I have always been the TRAVEL organizer of my high school group and also my officemates, and I don't know which part of my characteristic they trust the most. Maybe, because am a very thrifty person that I try very hard to look for ways to make the trip very convenient to all. As an organizer, it's a bit hard for me cause all of them depend on me. I have to book flights, read travel blogs, look for contacts and a lot more. Well, I am just so lucky that I have this boyfriend who supports me in any way. Plus, he's the type who's always on the GO when I say a place very interesting to have the journey to. I can say, I am lucky. =)

Ok, so here, I set the earliest flight the airline had. It was, if am not mistaken, 5:30am, 4th of June, 2010. I always have the earliest so we can be at the place very early and spend the day to the fullest we can. Yay! I was with 8 friends, almost forgot to tell you.

It was the first time again after a year I would be riding on an airplane. To tell you, I am addicted to it most especially the take off thing. It just makes me feel I am flying too fast! While, my boyfriend. he's a bit scared that he holds my hand very tight when the take off's happening, and as a supportive gf, i also do the same thing to somehow imply that everything's ok, will enjoy so much in this flight!

We arrived Tagbilaran Airport at 7am. I was really GROGGY that day as I wasn't able to sleep very well. Good that even we reached the place early, the service was ontime. We did not have to wait too long. We started the travel right away.

The first spot we went to was the BLOOD COMPACT SHRINE which the history says " the approximate spot where Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Rajah Sikatuna made a ritual to enter a pact of friendship and end the hostilities between them." (See: http://bohol-beach-resorts.com/blood-compact-site/)

It was fun but we did not stay long outside as it was really hot!

Second spot was the Baclayon church. The church, which was bulit in 15th century, is considered as the oldest church in the Philippines.
Since they have this very conservative culture (which I love about the Phil!) , the ladies who wear shorty shorts have to put on this pink cloth to cover the legs.

Next stop's the Man made forest. This sight is not really that amusing to maybe most of you since it looks like just a forest. But the story of this is really impressive for me. Bohol before had experienced massive flooding, so the municipal mayor decided to create this forest to somehow prevent the flooding in the place. With the help of his fellow Boholanos, their perseverance paid off and it has now become one of the famous forests in the country.

So the 4th place we went to was of course the sight I had dreamed of going the first time I saw this in my history book when I was in 3rd grade, the Chocolate hills. The time I got off the van, I took a time to look at them for I couldn't believe I was actually seeing it! My boyfriend and I promised to ourselves that moment that all of the beautiful places the Philippines has, we will have time and save money just to see them!

The Chocolate Hills are probably Bohol's most famous tourist attraction. They look like giant mole hills, or as some say, women's breasts, and remind us of the hills in a small child's drawing. Most people who first see pictures of this landscape can hardly believe that these hills are not a man-made artifact. However, this idea is quickly abandoned, as the effort would surely surpass the construction of the pyramids in Egypt. The chocolate hills consist of are no less than 1268 hills (some claim this to be the exact number). They are very uniform in shape and mostly between 30 and 50 meters high. They are covered with grass, which, at the end of the dry season, turns chocolate brown. From this color, the hills derive their name. It was almost 12nn when friends and I felt a bit hungry. Without us even uttering a word, the guide had decided to take us to Loboc river and have lunch.
